December can be a sneaky play, as lodging is very cheap. The risk is that snow coverage at this time will be weak, but visitors to Park City have an escape hatch here as they can drive 50 minutes over to the Salt Lake side of the Wasatch to Little or Big Cottonwood Canyons to ski Alta, Snowbird, Solitude or Brighton, which tend to lead the continent in early snow and coverage and snow quality in general. Skiers can easily get in an afternoon of skiing after a morning arrival, or ski until mid-afternoon on the day of their departure.
